Each angler is responsible for either attending the captain's meeting in person or via Zoom live broadcast. Smith Island Fishing Tournament will not be held responsible for any miscommunication or confusion.

In case of any emergency or schedule conflict where the angler cannot attend the captains meeting, they must check in with a SIFT committee member.

Kayakers will register as “Individual” and must declare they are fishing from kayak prior to the tournament. They can do so by emailing:

*NEW* Smith Island Fishing Tournament may deny any individual the right to participate/register, and will
disqualify any angler or team if fraudulence is suspected.

*NEW* If fraudulence is suspected, anglers may be subject to a thorough polygraph test that is available on island or mainland that will be performed by a certified polygraph conductor.

Anglers are permitted to fish anywhere in the Chesapeake Bay. Anglers are prohibited from fishing on the sea side.

*NEW* All team members must fish from the same vessel. If the team wishes to fish from shore, all members must be fishing together. Anglers bank fishing must be within 10 feet from one another. (NO divide and conquer” methods are permitted)

Methods of fishing ONLY involving rod/reel are permitted. Retrieving fish from nets, pots, longlines, etc. are prohibited and will result in disqualification.

*NEW* Fish are not allowed to be stored or held for a later submission. Each fish is to be submitted to iAngler immediately after being landed/boated while the fish is still alive.

Tournament certified 55” rulers will be issued to each team/individual angler. Fish will be measured with he nose at 0 with the longest point of the tail determining length (tail may be pinched). The fish should be
laid left to right. This will be mandatory for each photo submission.

Prior to each fishing day you will receive a number/letter indicator code that will be emailed to every team/angler. It will be required to be included in each photo submission. If the code is not present in the picture, the submission is not valid. (The code may be written on anglers hand or on a piece of paper).

There will be a different code for each day.

You are responsible for following MD or VA fishing regulations. In any case where the angler doesn’t comply with state laws or tournament rules, they may be disqualified without entry fee refunds. Each fish must meet MD DNR size requirements to be submitted:

Rockfish: 19”
Red Drum: 18”
Speckled trout: 14”

Ties will be settled by the first fish submitted to iAngler.

SIFT will be centered around the Smith Island Slam as well as each species’ Calcutta. The Smith Island Slam is made up of three fish (1 Rockfish, 1 Speckled Trout, 1 Red Drum). The team or angler with the longest aggregate length of the 3 fish wins.

There will be 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes awarded for the SI Slam.

There will only be 1st place prizes awarded for each Calcutta: Rockfish, Red drum,
Oyster Toad, Speckled Trout, Woman’s Division, Youth

Eligibility to target each Calcutta species is included in the original entry fee!

*NEW* A prize will be awarded to the female angler (18 years of age or older) who submits the longest fish of any of our eligible target species. This fish can still be used to make up a stringer or to win a Calcutta.

There will be prizes awarded for the Youth Division (Anglers 17 years of age or younger). The longest fish of any eligible species submitted takes home the prize for each of these divisions. This fish can still be
used to make up a stringer or to win a Calcutta. Youth anglers must register by emailing us at sitournament@yahoo.com
