Third Annual Muskies Inc Fishing Derby
June 22 - 23, 2024

The third annual Muskies Inc Fishing derby is going to take place on June 22nd through the 23rd, 2024. Hours will be from Sunrise Saturday to 9pm and Sunrise Sunday to 5 pm (EST) with awards and raffle to follow afterwards. The St. John River from the confluence of the St Francis River to the US/Canada Border at Hamlin is the permitted area. Fee will be 30 dollars (USD) a person. Muskies are the only “legal” species and will be measured to the nearest quarter ( ¼)of an inch. Fish will be entered through the Iangler app that will be free to the angler to allow for catch and release fishing. There will be no physical “check station” because of this MI chapter Members to answer questions in person or by phone.

All proceeds from the event will go towards paying for Musky Diet study in the St. John River using chemical analysis to determine prey items over their life span. They will also go towards funding youth fishing days and possibly a larger fisheries study in the near future.

Tournament Rules.

  1. June 22nd Sunrise to 9pm. June 2rd Sunrise to 5pm. Awards to follow after.
  2. Largest fish over the weekend wins the only prize.
  3. Tie breaker goes to the person with the most fish. If still tied, prizes will be split accordingly or via coin flip.
  4. Each measuring board will have stickers at regular intervals to assist in length confirmation. Unless using a commercially made measuring board that is already color coded. If using a measuring tape, the fish must be placed over the tape and it must be pulled tight.
  5. Pictures will be taken and uploaded to the IAngler Tournament App. GPS must be turned on while uploading to verify the party is not of out of bounds. There must be one picture of the tail pinched on the measuring board up close and at least one showing the full length of the fish on the board.
