ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN UP
November 16, 2019
Environmental Clean-up: Nocatee Kayak Launch SMFCF is looking for community volunteers to help in the clean up of a kayak launch under the Palm Valley bridge. This is part of an effort to reduce waste going into the Intracoastal Waterway and ultimately out into the ocean. SMFCF will offer bags and will dispose of any collected trash.
Volunteers will need to bring their own gloves, refillable water bottles, and are encouraged to dress for the weather. Please be prepared by wearing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
SMFCF will loan out grabbers and gloves to the first 50 participants.
Volunteers will break out in groups and have the option of participating in 2 types of data collection using apps. One person in each group should have their cell phone to download the Clean Swell App to track the data of what trash was picked up (app training will occur on site). If you are interested in competing for the most trash collected, we will be having a "Trash Tournament" using the iAngler Tournament App. Please download these apps prior to the cleanup as service isn't always the best at the beach.
This event is open to all ages, however, parents must accompany their children. Please be sure to register all participants as we have to report back this data. We hope to see you there!
