Trinity Bass Bash Tournament Rules
TBB tournaments are open to all individuals as long as they are willing to obey all rules and regulations listed below.
Many new tournament anglers are unaware of the meaning of the terms "captains meeting" and "weigh-in". The captains meeting is held early in the morning before the tournament begins. We have everyone to sign in then we assign each person an identifier. The identifier is a number that Is unique to each individual. The number will be written on your hand. When a fish is caught you will take a picture of your hand on the fish with the fish on the measuring board. We will collect the money for the tournament and big Bass pot. We will go over a few rules at the captains meeting and you will be free to ask questions. We will also go over the location of the weigh-in. After the meeting we will all go to our respective fishing locations and the tournament will begin. After the tournament we will have a weigh-in. This is not a true "weigh-in" like the large bass boat tournaments have. We will add up the total fish inches of each fisherman and determine the winners. There will not be any fish at the weigh-in. The fish are to be released after a picture is taken.
We are all responsible for going by the rules. Not knowing the rules is not an excuse to make an exception to the rules. This event was created to have fun. It is also a stepping-stone for anglers who desire to increase their skills and compete at higher levels of competition. Disorderly conduct, illegal activity or violation of the rules may result in disqualification.
We will be fishing for Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass and Guadalupe Bass. Smallmouth bass cannot be counted since they are not located in the region we are fishing. When taking a picture the fishes mouth must be closed and up against the board. The fish must be lying on it's right side. The entire fish must be visible. The unique identifier on your hand must show up in the picture. Anglers cannot use anything but their hand to hold the fish to the hawg trough. The lines and numbers must be visible on the hawg trough. Fish will be rounded DOWN to the nearest quarter of an inch. It is your responsibility to make sure we can accurately interpret your picture. It is advisable to take multiple pictures of the same fish and to make certain that the measurement of each fish shows up clearly in the picture before releasing the fish. We will have a 5 fish limit. The measurement of your 5 largest fish will be added together. The angler with the largest total of fish inches will be declared the winner. Each fish must be at least 10 inches in length to be counted in this tournament.
All new participants must sign a liability release before participating in a TBB tournament. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian must sign the liability release. The parent or guardian must accompany the minor at all times. If the parent or guardian participates in the tournament their fish cannot be combined with the minor. Each participant will be scored separately.
If a participant is late and misses the captains meeting they may still participate by contacting me (Glynn Williams) or Raymond Lopez. They must specify whether they want to participate in the Big Bass pot. They must pay one of us during the tournament or at the weigh-in. If the participant does not request entry into the big Bass pot they will not be entered into the pot.
The entry fee will be $20 with an optional $5 big Bass pot. Cash only. Payout is 100%. All winners must attend the weigh-in otherwise they forfeit the prize which will then be awarded to the next highest participant.
The angler who scores the highest number of total inches (per 5 fish limit) will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the individual who scores the largest bass will be declared the winner. If the score is still tied we will compare the 2nd largest fish to determine the winner. We will compare all fish, if necessary, to break the tie. If all 5 fish are the same size a coin flip will determine the winner.
Kayaks, Paddleboards (SUP's), Canoes, Bass Buster's, row-boats, inflatable boats, small pontoons (12 feet or less in length) are allowed. Trolling motors are allowed. No gasoline motors, sailboats, air boats or inflatable tubes are allowed. Accomodations may be made for special needs anglers on a case by case basis by the tournament director. All fish must be caught while the angler is inside the watercraft. The only exception is if a fish is tangled in trees or brush an individual may leave the watercraft to retrieve the fish if this is necessary. Life jackets must be worn on the watercraft at all times.
Live bait or cast nets are not allowed. Lures and flies are the only baits allowed. Fish must be caught on rod and reel or fly rods only. The same fish may be caught two times by the same angler. However, the angler must be able to prove that the fish was caught at least an hour later than the first time the fish was caught. This can be accomplished be selecting "info" on an Android phone while in camera mode. No fish can be counted more than two times. Trolling is allowed.
Our tournaments are roadrunner events. You may launch anywhere on the Trinity River within the boundaries of loop 820. You must launch on the Trinity River. If another Creek or River intersects with the Trinity you may fish that location as long as you initially launched on the Trinity River. Remember to allow plenty of time to return to weigh-in. Traffic conditions will be much worse in the afternoon so please allow for this. If an individual is fifteen minutes late one inch will be deducted from their total number of inches. After 20 minutes one-half inch will be deducted for every five minutes late. An angler will be considered disqualified if they are more than 30 minutes late.
If you decide you not interested in attending the weigh-in please message or call me (Glynn Williams 817-903-9739) or message Raymond Lopez BEFORE you leave the tournament. By doing this we know that it is alright to proceed without you and their is no need to be concerned about your safety.
