Southern Reels Fishing Striper Tournament

Open Division
(includes Boat, Kayak, Pier Fishing, Bank Fishing, and Wading)

December 19 - 31, 2020

Southern Reel Fishing announces their 2020 tournament series. Each tournament will target a different species.

The tournament identifier will posted after 9PM on the night prior to the tournament.


Kayak & Land Division Boundaries: Virginia Public Waters

Kayak & Land Division Rules: "Catch/Photo/Release" (CPR) format, all catch photos must be submitted via the iAngler Tournament mobile app or website

Kayak & Land Division Scoring: Total Score = Sum of lengths for top 3 fish; 1 point per inch (report length to the 1/4 inch)

Kayak & Land Division Payouts: Places 1-3 pay out 80%

  • 1st 50%
  • 2nd 20%
  • 3rd 10%
  • 4th Free entry fee ( to be used in the year won )
  • 5th Participation prize

Tournament Schedule

  • Bluefish: May 16th - 29th

  • Flounder: July 11th - 24th

  • Redfish: Sep 25th - Oct 9

  • Trout: Oct 17th - 30th

  • Tautog: Nov 20th - Dec 4th

  • Striper: Dec 19th - Dec 31st

  • Standard "Catch/Photo/Release" rules , clearly marked board with tour identifier clearly visible.
  • Late registration - will require 48hrs before entry can be logged
  • Rod and reel only no traps , snares or fixed lines
  • Artificial or live baits may be used
  • Smartphones must be used to log catch. GPS as well as time/date stamp must be turned on in order for catch to be counted
  • Protests : any and all protest must be submitted no later than 2hrs prior to the end time of event. Protest will be reviewed and ruled on by staff ( all decisions are final )
  • Captains meetings : events are completely online events no captains meeting will be held. All prizes will be delivered by first class US mail.
  • Places will be paid out as followed:

    • 1 place will be paid out per 5 entries (i.e.5 entries = only 1st pays out)
    • 10 entries will pay out to 1st and 2nd
    • 15 entries will pay out 1st thru 3rd, and so on up to 5 places (still using the originally stated pay outs)
