A Kayak/Bank online tournament benefiting the Fisher House Foundation. $40 entry, Cash Payouts, Raffles, 42 species, Weighted Points System, & Ultimate Bragging Rights. Anglers will have 36 days to compile their top 10 scoring fish.
We encourage you to visit their web page and the Fishing for Families Facebook Page (URL’s below) to learn more about the amazing things they do for our Veterans. Our goal with this event is to include as many types of anglers as possible in order to help raise the largest donation amount for the Fisher House Foundation.

The net proceeds of the entry fees will be divided 50/50, allotting 50% for the Fisher House Foundation and 50% for the winner circle. All bonus donations will go directly to the Fisher House Foundation and will not be included in the split.

This is an online CPR (catch/photo/release) tournament open to kayak and bank fishermen. The online challenge will utilize the iAngler.com smartphone application and website to log their catches. There will be a “points per inch (PPI)” scoring system used to score the various species as evenly as possible. This is to allow fair competition between the different species. Example, an average size Largemouth Bass will be awarded the same number of points as an average sized Speckled Tout, or Red fish, or Channel Cat, etc. This allows you to fish for your favorite species of fish, or to log many different species of fish.

Our main goal in using this system is to increase participation as much as possible between anglers all around the United States, leaving it open to both salt and fresh water anglers. The top 10 scoring fish will be submitted. iAngler will automatically cull your catches so all you have to do is Catch/Photo/Release (CPR) and log your catches!

All Scoring is based on length in inches, and at this time the "Hawg Trough" bump board is the ONLY approved measuring device. If you would like to use a different measuring board please submit a photo of it to us for inspection and approval. The photo must show the board alongside a tape measure. Photos can be sent via Facebook, or the emails listed on the iAngler tournament page with the subject line reading “F4F Measuring” OR they can be submitted directly into iAngler (this is the preferred method). It is the angler’s responsibility to follow up with us to ensure it has been verified and approved for use.

Rules and Regulations

Hello Angler,

Thank you so much for participating in the Fishing for Families online tournament benefiting the Fisher House Foundation.

It is the angler’s responsibility to follow up with us to ensure it has been verified and approved for use.

ALL RULES, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND INFORMATION REGARDING THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE POSTED ON THE OFFICIAL “FISHING FOR FAMILIES” FACEBOOK PAGE. All registration fees should be paid through the iAngler app or webpage.

Rules
1. Kayaks (paddle, pedal powered, or “motorized kayaks”) and stand up paddle boards (SUP’s) are acceptable as is Bank/Shore fishing.
2. Fish submitted while using a guide are not allowed. Use of a Guide while fishing is not permitted.
3. All fish must be caught in public accessible waterways. No private property, lakes, ponds or other waterways will be allowed. This is tracked through GPS and determined when you submit your photo via iAngler.
4. All fish must be caught on a rod/reel setup.
5. Artificial lures, live bait, or dead bait including scents are allowed.
6. All anglers are responsible for having the appropriate fishing licenses according to your local laws, as well as responsible to know and follow all Fish & Wildlife rules and regulations, including but not limited to, size and daily bag limits, plus equipment rules.
7. NO cast or drag net, bow or spear fishing is allowed. (See Rule 4)
8. All fish must be caught by the angler. Fishing partners may not help land fish or pool their catch. This is grounds for disqualification. Fishing partners may help with taking pictures after the catch is completed.
9. Only top 10 scoring catches will count towards your total points.
10. Entries must be posted within 3 days of being caught and photographed. This is to discourage “sandbagging” and to promote fairness.
11. The entry fee for the tournament is $40 for all anglers
12. Tournament dates are May 25th thru June 29th.
13. Lines-In 5/25 at 12:00AM
14. Lines-Out 6/29 at 11:59PM, all submissions must be completed prior to lines out

Photo Submission Requirements

All fish that will fit on the approved measuring device must be photographed in the following manner: See image here for proper technique.

1. All fish must be lying on the measuring device with their head facing to the left, lip against the wall of the bump board, and with their dorsal fin pointing up or away from the angler. The mouth can be open or closed.
2. A lipping device may be used to keep the fish secure if you take the photo while on the water. But, it must not obstruct the view of the lip or mouth contacting the wall of the bump board. If the lipping device obstructs this view the photo will be disqualified.
3. All inch lines and numbers must be clearly visible and legible in the photo. Make sure the lines and numbers on your board are marked clearly and that they can be seen in your photo. If the lines are not visible the catch will be submitted to the nearest verified size per the tournament directors.
4. The correct tournament identifier must be clearly visible in the photo, NO EXCEPTIONS. See tournament ID guidelines section below.
5. You are allowed to submit two photos per fish if desired. It is advised to not delete any photos of the catch in the event the photos turn out blurry or illegible.
6. One photo must show the entire fish on the board. It must clearly show a portion of its mouth touching the bump board and also show where its tail lands on the measuring board. The tournament ID must be visible in this photo.
7. The second, optional photo can focus on the tail showing a closeup of the measurement.
8. Any photo or photos not following these guidelines will be rejected, possibly resulting in the disqualification of the fish.
9. We encourage you to take more than one photo of each fish in case some pictures turn out poorly, or we need additional photos to verify and validate the fish. If you fail to provide photos that clearly meet the above standards, or verify the entire length of your catch, or if the photo identifier is not in the picture, then your fish will be disqualified. Tournament Directors will consult and make a final decision regarding fish DQ. Tournament Directors decisions are final.
Bigger than the board - For fish that are bigger than the measuring board you have two options. Please note: all other requirements like the tourney ID and legible measurement markings still apply.
10. If you are committed to competing in the spirit of CPR and want to release the fish unharmed, take the best photos you can. Get the measuring board alongside the fish, with bump board next to the fish’s mouth. Try to get the tail as straight as possible, and take several good pictures. We will use your photo with the measuring device for scale, and use the iAngler Scaling Software to determine the final length for your submission. The second option is to submit your measuring device next to a tape measure for review and approval by the Tournament Directors. All Tournament Directors decisions are final.
11. Sharks & other large species - If you catch large species that aren’t possible to put on a bump board, but you still want to practice CPR, you must submit clear enough photos and have a store-bought measuring tape visible in the photos for scale so that our Tournament Directors can estimate the length of your submission using the iAngler Scaling Software. Having a Hawg Trough visible in the photo, bump board adjacent to the mouth (species applicable) is also allowed. Again, all Tournament Directors decisions are final.
12. Shore based photos - While we want to promote catch and release practices as much as possible, we also realize that some anglers want to keep their fish to eat. Our intent for this rule was to minimize unintentional killing of fish just to get a good photo, but the rule may also penalize anglers who had planned to keep their catch anyway.

Winnings and Prizes

Net proceeds will be divided 50/50 between the Fisher House Foundation and the winner’s circle for the tournament (hereafter referred to as “Winners Pot”). The Winners Pot is excludes iAngler tournament fees, KFMV Tournament costs, Marketing and Advertising costs, and any other unforeseen costs associated with the tournaments operation.

All percentages discussed from this point forward are in reference to the Winner’s Pot.
1. First: 70% of net proceeds
2. Second: 20% of net proceeds
3. Third: 10% of net proceeds

RAFFLES: We will have a multitude of raffles throughout the tournament. Upon completion of the tournament there will be a Facebook Live Video Event on the Fishing for Families page in which we will announce the winners of the raffle items (the various prizes offered by our sponsors). You do not need to be present during the live video event to win, we will contact you and arrange shipping.

Donation Bonus Points

To help increase the amount of KFMV’s donations to the Fisher House Foundation, and to offer the opportunity for anglers to qualify for the Winners Pot, we are offering an opportunity to receive “bonus points” for an additional donation to the charity.

1. $50 donation will award the angler 50 bonus points
2. $25 donation will award the angler 25 bonus points
3. $10 donation will award the angler 10 bonus points

These will be the only bonus amount/points combination allowed, and ALL bonus donations must be completed on or before June 22nd to be eligible for bonus points.

Anglers can make only ONE (1) donation for bonus points. Any applicable bonus points will be applied to the anglers overall total of their top 10 scoring fish.

Early Entry Raffle

Raffle entries will be given for early registration in the tournament. Bonus entries will be separate from any sponsor raffle entries, or “donation raffles” you may enter.

1. If you register during the dates of May 11th to May 20th you will receive 2 bonus entries in the F4F raffle.

Rules Violations and Cheating

All rules violations will be investigated fully. Anyone found to be violating the rules will be penalized or disqualified depending on the violation. The KFMV tournament Tournament Directors panel will review such occurrences and all decisions are final.

Any angler caught cheating, such as submitting the same fish more than once, allowing friends to submit the same fish for scoring, or altering their measuring device in some way, will be disqualified from the tournament and subsequent raffle. At the discretion of the Tournament Directors, they will also be banned from participating in future KFMV hosted events. For extreme cases of cheating that results in winning large sums of money, law enforcement will be notified and we WILL pursue charges against the offending party or parties, to the fullest extent of the law. Social Media will also be notified, possibly resulting in disqualification from other online fishing tournament events. Simply put, if your caught cheating we will ensure other tournament trails are made aware of it and you will be banned from all of our tournaments.

Judging Disputes:

In the case of a rules violation and, or cheating, all decisions are final. With regards to scoring, fish sizing, etc., if an angler feels that the Tournament Directors have scored one of their submissions incorrectly, they may request a correction. The angler must contact the Tournament Directors with their name, the date of submission, the region, and the complaint. Once the Tournament Directors have considered a submission a second time, the Tournament Directors ruling is final.

Altering Rules and Information:

Kayak Fishing Military Veterans reserves the right to alter or modify the above rules and information in the case of safety concerns or in the instance of cheating, theft, or unlawful activity. These modifications may include necessary rules changes, and, or a change in tournament format or scoring. It is the desire of the Tournament Directors to maintain the spirit and format of the tournament, however, decisions regarding modifications or changes to any portion of the tournament will be final. All changes will be announced to participants via the Fishing for Families page, email and on social media as soon as possible.

Refunds:

All entry fees are non-transferable and non-refundable once the tournament begins.

Photo Release:

KFMV reserves the right and all participants grant permission to KFMV and their partners to use any and all, photographs and/or videos taken or submitted during the tournament. Such media can be used for promotional purposes in publications, news releases, online ads, social media, and in other communications related to paddle sports and kayak fishing.

Release of Liability/Waivers:

Upon filling out the registration and entering, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the release of liability and the rules of the tournament. All anglers are required to maintain any State mandated insurance for all watercraft and vehicles operated in conjunction with the Fishing for Families tournament.

Please contact us with any questions or concerns regard the rules and guidelines shown above. It is our goal to make this tournament as fun, fair, and competitive as possible, while raising funds to benefit Veterans families.
